About the Artist

I started working in jewelry 30 years ago with a high school jewelry class. I have taken dozens of classes and seminars since then, including an intensive session in New York City in the diamond district.

My work is inspired by natural forms like flowers and everyday objects. Other times the shapes are entirely imagined and they evolve in shape in real-time as the hammering or soldering proceeds.

My interest in gemstones is longstanding. I love the geology of their formation. I am inspired by the wonderful colors they come in.  I have collected them from gem shows, rock shops and other collectors.  I love cutting and polishing them as well.

I am a member of the San Francisco Gem and Mineral Society and the Metal Arts Guild. I have two terrific adult sons. I live in San Francisco with my wife, Jennifer and my cat, Cassie
